D’Souza Educational and Charitable Trust was formed in the year 2007 and the Institute in the name of Mumbai Institute of Management was established. The institute runs for the welfare of local poor and needy students who are deprived of higher educational facilities. It conducts various courses of Management and Physical education to the students of Palghar District which is considered to be having huge population of persons living below poverty line and for whom education is beyond their reach. This Institute is the only college run as ‘D’Souza College of Management’ in Nalasopara (West) which enrolls students for Hotel Management and Fire Safety. A division was created within the college as ‘D’Souza College of Hotel Management and Fire Safety’.
The Hotel Management and Fire Safety requires land, infrastructure, communication facilities, workshop, laboratory for which a separate Building was proposed to be constructed the proposed building will take care of the needs of the students who desire to pursue their career in India and abroad and got enrolled for Hotel Management Courses and Fire Safety with reasonable fees for the upliftment of the desires, needs and considering the financial and social background of the students
Hence, D’Souza Educational and Charitable Trust approached the State Government for funding the project for construction of Building. The State Government approved the Project and accordingly the Project Work was commenced in the year 2015. The project is expected to be completed by……………. The requirement of land is 40 acres for construction of building, compound, garden, playground, common toiled, Gym, Volley Ball, Football ground, Basket Ball, ground, cricket ground and auditorium, transformer/lighting gates and road construction. The total cost for purchase of land is 400 crores with above infrastructure to be 15 crores. The construction cost, furniture, fixtures, lighting, canteen and construction of classrooms of MMS, MBA & MCA courses would cost Rs. 11.20 Crores. The construction cost, furniture and fixtures, lighting, canteen and construction of classrooms for Hotel Management would cost Rs. 11.40 crores. The boys/girls hostel cost would be around 8 crores each. The construction cost, furniture/fixtures, lighting, toilet for Fire Safety and International School would cost around 20.20 crores. The vehicles (pick up and drop facility for students) would cost Rs. 2 crores. It has been planned to grant scholarship for students of Tribal Area which would cost Rs. 3 crores. The insurance cost for students would be Rs. 2 crores. The salary to staff and employees would cost Rs. 15 crores and teaching staff cost would be around Rs 15 crores. The break-up of total rooms for Management (MBA/MMS/MCA) college was given in the Project report for classrooms, library, administration office, conference hall, ladies room, toilets, computer room, recreation room, visitors room, canteen where sufficient space is required which may cost Rs. 1 crores. The furniture and fixtures would cost Rs. 3 crores. The centralized AC and CCTV Cameras would totally cost Rs. 1.20 Crores.
The breakup of total rooms for Hotel Management College comprising of classrooms, library, administration office, canteen, conference hall, ladies room, toilets, computer room, recreation room, visitors room, baretender’s, food production and housekeeping laboratory where sufficient space is required would cost Rs. 1.2 crores. The furniture and fixtures would cost Rs. 3 crores. The centralized AC, CCTV Cameras would cost Rs. 1.20 crores.
For Fire Safety Building, various expensive equipment are required for training students on emergency situations and disaster control which costs Rs. 1 crore. The break-up on classrooms, administration office, conference hall, library, generator, furniture and fixtures, lighting would cost Rs. 4.20 crores.
The break-up of hostel-boys (4 floors) and hostel-girls (4 floors) would cost Rs. 1.2 crores. The breakup of vehicles required for conveyance of students from college to residence and vice-versa would cost Rs. 2.5 croresapprox.
Hence, the total cost for land construction of building, infrastructure, salary of employees and other costs would be around 510.80 crores. In view of the educational needs of Tribal and Backward area population and the growth of Palghar District which is considered to be important in National Interest, the funds may kindly be sanctioned. The welfare of the students with the prime task of higher education of needy, poor students would be taken care of by this Institute with suitable placement after they excel in their relevant courses.
